On the 30th November 1900, 6 brethren met in the Victoria Park Town Hall and resolved to form a Masonic Lodge within the Scottish Constitution.
On the 4th January 1901 the Lodge was consecrated as No 857 S.C.
A fortnight later an emergency meeting was held and the members present decided to surrender the Lodge charter and apply for consecration under the Western Australian Constitution. This was done and the Lodge consecrated on the 22nd February 1901.
It is believed that this quick movement was because when the Western Australian Constitution was formed it was determined that any Lodges consecrated under any other Constitution after 27/02/1900 would not be recognised by the WAC. The Victoria Park Lodge proudly continues to be a Lodge operating under the Western Australian Constitution.
In May 1903, the first move was made to build a Masonic Hall on our current site on the corner of Albany Hwy and Temple St. Victoria Park. Bro Gutman sold the block for £272, the price he paid for it, with the loan to be repaid when possible interest-free. The following month, it was decided to build a Hall, the cost to be no more than £700, its size to be 40 feet by 25. Some things never change and in December of that year the authorised cost was raised to £1100.
Th Lodge Rooms continue to be used by The Victoria Park Lodge and many other Masonic Lodges and Orders.
Masonic visitors from all over the world are always welcome and if you use the contact page to find out who is meeting when in town, we shall be glad to provide that information.
